Yolanda is a given name, of Greek origin but existing in many languages, meaning Violet.

It is all starts the same for me - not the slightest idea, just piece of wool and endless possibilities with it.
Head is always coming first, always from scratch, though I am trying not to overthink it, just letting my hands do the job.

Last rays of sunlight might be the best time for all magical things...

Hair is more tricky, it can be a game changer. Yolanda has got such soft juicy violet mohair locks. I bought these locks ages ago and never had the courage to use till now. When I look back to the whole doll making process, I must be insane to enjoy it. To sort such soft locks is just pure pleasure, so relaxing, almost like knitting. Doing weft was really good as well, I used Wash Away Stabiliser, such game changer in hand wefting. Unfortunately, I had to wash the whole weft after it but it is OK. For the ones who never tried it before just not even think and buy it, it doesn't cost much and will make the wefting so much easier.

Yolanda's character puzzled me a bit, it took nearly month of looking at her and trying to find the right pieces, her pieces. I made small ears and they just didn't match her, my mind been adding big ones, as big as I have never done before.

Yolanda has wings, she is a whimsical creature, you know. I used some merino wool felt and just painted  needle felted it all over. They can be easily detached from her back, I used "brooch" closure for it.

And at last - a bit of details. Tiny flowers, I must have some crash on them, it didn't scare me off to spend more than an hour to just sew every flower into its place. Yolanda's top made of vintage fabric scraps I brought a couple of years ago from Russia, such treasure from my childhood memories, I am happy to be able to use them whenever possible.

So, my the most magical doll Yolanda will be available through up-coming Dollectable, September the 1st at 7 pm EDT. I hope she can fly home in no time!
